of Buddha at Gankoji
In Gankoji, there are 24 images of Buddha which are designated as National Important Cultural Assets. Among these, the Yakushi-Nyorai-Zazo (a sitting image of Yakushi-Nyorai) was created by Saicho. Unkei, a well-known specialist of sculpture, created the wooden sitting of Amida-Nyorai. Wooden images of the big four (Shitenno) and wooden images twelve generals were commissined by Moriyasu Kouketsu, then-administrator of Mitake area. |
